Microneedling In Bournemouth

Microneedling is a treatment that makes your skin produce new collagen and therefore new and fresh skin. This happens in a natural way through your skin’s own healing mechanism.

Most clients get microneedling on their face, but it can also be performed anywhere else on your body.

Microneedling is an excellent treatment and can help with the following:

Decrease scars (e.g. acne scars, surgical scars and sunburn scars)
Reduce enlarged pores
Decrease dark spots (hyperpigmentation)
Make your skin smoother
Increase your skin elasticity
Remove stretch marks
Heal sun damaged skin
Remove fine lines and wrinkles
Improve the condition Rosacea

At TreatMyWrinkles Bournemouth, this treatment is becoming more and more popular. This is because it is very effective, and also because it is more affordable than traditional treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers.

A microneedling treatment normally takes only about an hour. And even better: There is no downtime, so you can go straight back to work or continue with your day as normal.

Also, there are normally no (or very few) side effects.

Let’s learn more about microneedling. 👍

Most Affordable Microneedling In Southampton

What Is Microneedling?

When we perform this treatment at TreatMyWrinkles Bournemouth, we use a tool that looks like a large pen. But it is not a pen – but rather a sophisticated microneedling tool,

Inside the head of this tool, there are several very small needles. When we slowly and carefully move this tool over your skin, these tiny needles perforate the outer layer of your skin and cause several tiny wounds.

Btw, we can adjust how deep the needles penetrate your skin (up to 3mm). This depth will vary depending on what condition you want to treat, and how severe your condition is.

But why do we create these microscopical wounds in your skin?

Because this sets in motion the healing process of these wounds.

And when your skin starts this healing process, it makes your skin produce new collagen and new and healthier skin. In other words, your skin starts to regenerate and restore itself. We essentially stimulate your body to exchange your old skin for new skin. 👍

You might ask: What is collagen?

Collagen is a protein that gives your skin strength and structure. It is not only found in the skin btw, but is actually the most abundant protein in your entire body. It basically holds your body together.

With lots of collagen, your skin will normally be youthful, fresh and smooth.

Lastest Technology Microneedling In Southampton

What Is The Cost Of Microneedling In Bournemouth?

Most clinics in Bournemouth charge between £150 and £300 per microneedling session. Prices will often vary depending on expertise of the staff, location of the clinic and technology used.

What do we charge?

We at TreatMyWrinkles Bournemouth try to be both the highest quality skin care clinic in Bournemouth, as well as the one with the most reasonable prices.

We therefore charge only £120 for one session of microneedling. And the technology we use is the latest and most advanced. 👍

However, one session is normally not enough to see signifcant results.  Most clients need 3-6 sessions in order to see fantastic improvements. So keep this in mind when you calculate the total cost.

Happy With Microneedling Treatment In Southampton

Are There Different Kinds Of Microneedling?

Because this treatment has been so effective, it has also evolved into more advanced forms. Therefore, there are today 3 main kinds of microneedling.

The first and the original form of microneedling, is simply called microneedling. It is also often referred to as traditional microneedling.

As this form of microneedling produced great results, scientist worked on a way to make it even more effective. They came up with what is called Microneedling with PRP. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. This treatment consists of traditional microneedling treatments and also applies platelets into the tiny wounds caused by the needles. This addition of PRP can make microneedling more effective.

The third type of microneedling is called radiofrequency microneedling. This treatment is both traditional microneedling and simultaneous radiowave pulses. As this device creates tiny injuries in your skin (traditional microneedling), it simultaneously transmits radio waves deeper into your skin. What is the end result of this? This treatment will then simultaneously stimulate collagen production on the surface of your skin (from the healing of the tiny wounds), and stimulate collagen production deeper inside your skin. The end result is that you get a deeper and more thorough treatment.

How Long Does Microneedling Take In Southampton

How Long Does Microneedling Take?

If you come to TreatMyWrinkles Bournemouth for microneedling, we can do it relatively quickly. In fact, the actual treatment only takes about 20-30 minutes (depending on area and condition).

However, people with sensitive skin will often feel a degree of discomfort from the needles. Therefore, to reduce this discomfort as much as possible, we can apply a numbing cream to your skin. It normally takes ca. 20-30 minutes to become active, so we have to wait until it kicks in before we start.

Therefore, the entire treatment will normally take a little less than one hour.

When Will I See Results From The Microneedling Treatment?

Microneedling results are not immediate. You should expect to see improvements in about 10 days after the first treatment. And after this, the improvements will be rapid. After 14-21 days, you will in most cases see a substantially healthier skin.

The reason it takes this amount of time, is that we stimulate collagen (and also elastin) regrowth. And this is a process that takes time. This is particularly true if your condition is severe. Therefore, in some cases it can take weeks or even months so see the full and optimal results.

Also:

In order to get the best possible results, we recommend 3-6 treatments (depending on your situation and condition).

Microneedling Aftercare Recommendations

Microneedling Aftercare (What To Do Afterwards)

A great thing about microneedling is that you can normally go straight back to work, or continue with your day as normal, after walking out of our clinic. In other words, you typically need no downtime.

However, because we made several hundred microscopical punctures in your skin during the treatment, there is a chance that your skin will be somewhat red and sensitive. This normally disappears within 24 hours.

Your skin will immediately start the recovery process. However, it will often take about 10 days before you can see improvement with the human eye.

So what to do afterwards in order to obtain the best possible results?

We recommend that you avoid strong sun exposure, makeup and face lotions for 2-3 days.

You should ideally also only cleanse your face with water for the first 2-3 days.

In addition, we suggest that you avoid very high heat for 2-3 days as well (sauna, very hot showers, etc.). The reason is that heat can expand the blood vessels in your face, and may therefore cause bruising.

Microneedling triggers your skin’s healing process, and also provokes an inflammatory response. This is how we are able to induce collagen production. We therefore advise that you do not take anti-inflammatory medications, as this would slow down this process.

You should wait 4 to 6 weeks between each microneedling session to get the best effects, and 3-6 treatments is in most cases enough to see very good results.

Great Results From Microneedling

Are Microneedling Results Permanent?

Whether the results from microneedling are permanent, or for how long the improvements will last, will depend on several factors. It will for instance depend on the condition being treated, and also on the strength of your very own collagen production.

If you want to treat facial scars such as acne scars, burn scars, or surgical scars, the results can be permanent. In other words, microneedling treatment can make your scars disappear almost completely.

The same goes for stretch marks. These can also be removed almost completely with microneedling, and should not reappear (unless you gain weight, become pregnant or otherwise change body shape).

Certain kinds of wrinkles and fine lines can also be treated with microneedling. These results are typically not permanent, but they will typically last for about six months. This will however depend on how much and how fast your skin produces collagen.

If your skin produces large amounts of collagen, the healing process from microneedling will be more successful, and the positive results will also normally last for longer. If your collagen creation is strong, the results can last for as long as one year.

What determines how much collagen you produce?

If you are in overall good health, if you are a non-smoker, if you have a good diet and if you exercise, you will normally have a good collagen production. Also, younger people tend to produce more collagen than older persons.

Should you want to treat the condition called melasma (grey skin), the results will also normally depend on your collagen production. Typically, these results will last anywhere from six months to one year, depending on your collagen ‘factories’.

If you want to treat enlarged pores, you can expect the results to last between three to six months. This will also depend on your collagen production.

If you want to improve sunspots on your skin, the effects can be permanent.

Side-Effects From Microneedling

Are There Any Side Effects From Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment, and there are therefore normally no side effects. The worst case scenario is normally just very mild and temporary ones.

And most people that do experience mild side effects, typically see these go away within 24-48 hours.

But let’s take a look at these side effects:

The most common side effect is slight skin irritation. This happens simply because your skin gets punctured several times, and because the healing response kicks in. Other possible side effects may be:

  • Light swelling
  • Discomfort
  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Dryness
  • Flaking of the skin

However, if you experience any other side effects, or if any of the above listed side effects last for more than 48 hours, please contact us.

Safe Microneedling At TreatMyWrinkles Southampton

Is Microneedling Safe?

There are many different skincare treatments. Some are completely safe, yet others come with potential dangers.

Microneedling is a very safe skincare treatment. And it has very few dangers.

If you look at the section above about side effects, you see that there are normally only very mild side effects. And these normally disappear within 24-48 hours.

And to give you more comfort on safety:

Microneedling has been extensively researched, and several scientific studies have deemed this treatment to be safe.

In the event you want to learn more about microneedling safety, here is a systematic review on microneedling from 2018, and here is another review published in 2021.

And in case you don’t want to read the studies: Both concluded that microneedling is very safe. 👍
