Southampton Nose Filler Costs
Nose Filler Compared With Rhinoplasty
A nose filler is simply the injecting of a dermal filler into your nose. We then form and sculpt this filler material to obtain the desired shape.
Then as time goes by, the filler material will disappear bit by bit. This means that the treatment is not permanent. If you want to maintain the new shape, you should get a new treatment periodically. This will normally be every 6-12 months.
Rhinoplasty on the other hand is permanent. It is a surgical procedure where a surgeon will cut open your nose and remove part of the cartilage or bone (or both) from your nose.
Let’s understand the pros and cons of both these treatments:
Aesthetic result: The benefit of rhinoplasty is that it can make your nose smaller. This is not possible with a nose filler. With a nose filler, we add material to alter the shape or curve of your nose. Hence a nose filler can only increase, not reduce. That said, both treatments can change the shape and curve of your nose, and also reduce the appearance of humps.
Cost: Rhinoplasty is more expensive, and will normally cost from £4,000 to £8,000. The price of a nose filler on the other hand is normally £400 to £800.
Complication of the treatment: Rhinoplasty is surgery. This means opening your nose with a scalpel and taking out cartilage, and potentially bone. After the surgery is completed, the surgeon will stitch your nose back together. A nose filler is much simpler: All it requires is an injection of a filler into your nose.
Anesthesia: Rhinoplasty will require heavy anesthesia. In many cases, you will get general anesthesia. This will knock you out so that you are totally unconscious during the surgery. For a nose filler, all the anesthesia you will need is a mild numbing cream.
Downtime: Rhinoplasty is a significant surgical procedure that will require substantial recovery time. In most cases, you will probably need at least 2 weeks of downtime. However, it may take several months for the nose to heal completely. With a nose filler, there is normally zero downtime, and you can head back to work, or otherwise continue with your life as normal after the treatment.
Duration of results: Rhinoplasty is permanent. A nose filler on the other hand is temporary. The results will typically last from about six months to one year, depending on what kind of filler we use.
Reversal of treatment: Rhinoplasty can only be reversed by getting reconstructive surgery. Which means yet another surgery. However, a nose filler can be reversed. That is as long as we use a hyaluronic acid filler (we almost exclusively use this kind of filler).
If you want to change your nose, a good approach may be to initially get a nose filler. After the nose filler treatment, you can see if you like your new look. Should you be satisfied and you want to keep it like this permanently, you can then opt for rhinoplasty. Or you can get new fillers every 6-12 months.
